Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin all have offers to star in Warner Bros.' Gangster Squad.
The crime drama, which was written by Will Beall from a series of Los Angeles Times articles, has Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer directing. Penn is in line to take on the role of gangster Mickey Cohen; it's not yet clear what roles Brolin and Gosling have been offered.
Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are producing.
The CAA-repped Penn last starred in Fair Game. He next stars in Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, which Fox Searchlight will open May 27 ahead of the film's competition screenings in Cannes.
Gosling, repped by IFA Talent Agency and Artist Management, has the WB romantic comedy Crazy Stupid Love hitting theaters in July and the FilmDistrict action flick Drive, which will also compete in Cannes, opening in September. He also stars in George Clooney's next film, The Ides of March, which is scheduled for an October release.
The CAA-repped Brolin last starred in True Grit, Jonah Hex and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. He's lately been filming Men in Black III, which Sony will release in May 2012.
EXCLUSIVE: NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt didn't want to make major changes to his development team until after the upfronts next month. But I hear at least one move is already in the works: that NBC's head of comedy Jeff Ingold is expected to leave the network, and hot Sony TV comedy executive Tal Rabinowitz is in line to replace him. Also it's looking increasingly likely that 20th Century Fox TV EVP Jennifer Nicholson Salke could join her close friend Greenblatt at NBC as entertainment president after the upfronts. Rabinowitz has been VP comedy at Sony TV and a rising star at the studio, overseeing some of the highest-profile comedy projects including The Big C, one of the last series developed and picked up by Greenblatt while he was entertainment president at Showtime. In addition to comedy, Rabinowitz has overseen digital development and programming for Sony. She started her career at the weblet WB. Rabinowitz and husband Terence Carter are poised to become quite the power TV network couple: he heads the drama development department at Fox. As for Ingold, he's served as EVP comedy at NBC since 2008. There has been speculation he might eventually join Bill Lawrence's production company at Warner Bros as the two have a great relationship going back to the days when Ingold served as the exec on Lawrence's NBC comedy Scrubs. According to TMZ, the reduced charge indicates that Lohan might not face jail time; the punishment will be determined after the verdict in the trial.
The Associated Press reports that, in reducing the charge, Sautner said she was giving the actress "an opportunity." The misdemeanor still has a potential penalty of a year in jail.
Late last month, Lohan turned down a plea deal offered by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office after being told by Judge Keith Schwartz that had she accepted the DA's deal — reportedly six months of jail time — she would have been found in violation of her probation and could serve more time.
Lohan allegedly lifted a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store on January 22. The owner reported the theft to the Los Angeles Police Department, which later investigated the accusation and presented evidence to the District Attorney's office. Up until Judge Sautner's ruling, the actress had been officially charged with one count of felony grand theft and faced up to three years in prison.
Lohan's trial date was set for June 3 and a pretrial date for May 11. Lohan must be present at both hearings.

Actress Reese Witherspoon is preparing for a messy Easter with her family - she's planning a bizarre egg race.
The Walk the Line star lives on a California ranch with new husband Jim Toth and her two children and reveals having 21 chickens on her farm has its perks around Easter.
She recently got creative with the surplus eggs and decided to implement a new family tradition for the holiday - although the Oscar winner admits the games she has planned for this weekend (23-24Apr11) will end in a big stink.
Witherspoon says, "I was trying to think of new games you can play. So I went online and there's this game where you stuff as many eggs into your tube socks as possible. And then you have to run a race. And whoever ends up at the end of the race with the least amount of broken eggs wins!
"It's actually super fun, because the adults get competitive. We started whacking each other's shins and ankles, grabbing each other, taking each other down. Especially me, because I'm a little bit competitive. Literally, it's disgusting. And it smells like rotten eggs for about three weeks. But it's fun."

'Friday' has had 100 million views to date, with Black currently working on her second single, 'LOL.' By Gil Kaufman

There was a minute there when Rebecca Black's "Friday" video was, almost literally, inescapable. Whether the success of the viral hit was being covered on such unlikely outlets as CNN or NPR, getting parodied on late-night television, or just bouncing around from Twitter accounts to e-mail in-boxes and music blogs, the tune by the previously unknown 13-year-old had the kind of white-hot media buzz usually reserved for a Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber.
Well, guess what? The little $2,000 pay-to-play ditty-that-could can now claim to have surpassed such major label juggernauts as Bieber and Gaga. According to a Reuters report, the no-budget clip for Black's song has been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube since it was released on February 10, surpassing the totals for Gaga's "Born This Way" and Bieber's "Pray" videos, based on numbers provided by Visible Measures, a company that tracks the performance of Web videos.
Scratch that. If you count spoofs, other versions and home-brewed takes on the song, it's actually been seen more than 200 million times. Crunching the same numbers for "Born This Way," it has generated 180 million online views, while "Pray" has racked up 65 million.
It doesn't seem as though Gaga minds the competition from the Ark Music Factory product, as she reportedly referred to "Friday" as "genius" recently. Black told us she "freaked out" when she heard the compliment from Mother Monster. "I'm 13 and I never thought Lady Gaga would even know my name. I'm the kind of girl that dances to Lady Gaga with a hairbrush in her room at night," Black told MTV News in late March before she notched her YouTube record.
Black is reportedly at work on her second single, "LOL," though a release date for that song has not yet been announced.
